*The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is the premier organization for college students interested in public relations, marketing and communications.
* Enhance our members' knowledge of the public relations career field and provide access to professional development opportunities such as leadership development, resume workshops, guest speakers, and internship and networking opportunities.
* To develop future public relations professionals through practicing real world professional skills.
*PRSSA is a student run organization that works with local businesses in order to produce public relations materials- such as press releases, event creation and promotion, flyer/advertisement creation and distribution- for the businesses. Together PRSSA and the local businesses create a mutually beneficial relationship- the businesses get free public relations help and the students get real life experience and practice in producing professional public relations materials. PRSSA accepts new members every semester. At the beginning of each semester, PRSSA holds informational meetings for potential members. Persons new to the organization have the opportunity to attend a meeting or two before paying dues and becoming a member. Dues are $65 and the fee covers an entire calendar year. If interested in joining PRSSA, contact current NIU chapter president Colleen Krohn.
Becoming a member of the PRSSA affiliates you with the world's pre-eminent student society. As a member, you can get involved in the Society's numerous national programs, gain exposure to professional development, leadership development, educational and networking opportunities unparalleled by any other professional experience on college campuses today.
An added benefit of membership in PRSSA is the opportunity to travel to great cities across the country to participate in the National Conference, the National Assembly and Regional Activities.
